I'm specifically looking for something that DH (6 foot 2 and skinny) can wear DD (8 months) in for long walks and possibly even a hiking holiday. I would try and get my hands on a Boba. It's designed for toddlers, but unless your DD is very petite she should fit in it now.

There is an FAQ at the bottom that mentions why the store's owner thinks the Boba is a much better option than a frame carrier, which may be worth sharing with your DH.

I love my Boba! My son has been able to use it since he was 4 months old.

we use this, and while it's not cheap, it's high quality and has a double pocket backpack on it that is super handy! if adjusted right, it doesn't even bother my back. holds up to 50lbs

We took our daughter hiking in the Rocky Mountains recently with our Beco Butterfly II. Granted, we are not serious hikers, but in my experience my daughter's time in the Beco is limited only by our stamina, because she will be happy in it FOREVER. She is 10 months old and was 19lbs 4oz and 27" at her last checkup. We are 5'8" and 5'10" and we weigh 170 and 185. My SIL has also used the Beco successfully and she is 5'4" and 110lbs.
