So it turns out we're moving out of here by the 1st. That's about 7 days. A week is both an agonizingly long time, and seriously not enough time at all. Both of these things are entirely the fault of Curtis' work schedule, as usual, because it means that 90% of the packing and cleaning needs to be done either by myself or during the few hours a day ( Read more... )

Im sure you guys are on it, but my main thought as Im reading about the moving is "take pictures of every corner of the house as you clear". It would be a too perfect opportunity to pull some shady shit once youre out as that seems to be her favorite way of dealing with people. Document everything just in case. The tinsiest scratch is much more obvous in an empty house than when you guys had it filled. It's field day for someone looking for a way to weasel more money and stress out of you. So glad everything is falling into place as it should.

I saw your fb complaints about the stitches; I had dissolving stitches after getting my wisdom teeth out, too, but never tasted them. Clearly that was, uh....14 years ago, in a different country :p So maybe you had something different. I was afraid you had something wrong with your healing or some kind of infection but didn't want to pop up as the voice of doom when I'm sure you'd already considered that.

That cake and those bags look amazing :)

Z always looks so thoughtful, to me, and I love the Xan-in-the-tree pics.

I really like reading your updates :) I'm glad you'll be living in a really nice place, that makes so much of a difference. I adore our current house, but our landlord is straight up crazy. He changes his mind on things, disappears for months, and then shows up and yells at us about things we got permission for in the first place and/or are legally allowed to do. It's just too stressful.

Ugh. I sympathize deeply. Our old/crazy landlady is still being crazy. We may have to take her to court over the damage deposit. I had my dad come as a witness just in case she pulled her shit (and she did). My father has been a contractor for over 30 years, and is very good at what he does. So he knows the actual cost for damage and replacements or whatever. She tried to claim $350 for a $35 heating unit and all sorts of other shit. I'm so glad he was there, because I'm way too easily cowed by people like her.

The best advice I can give is WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING. Get everything in writing if you can. If your LL says, "maybe next week" or whatever? Get it in writing. If he normally wouldn't write it, lie and say your phone is broken so you need it in email or print. File everything away. Trust me, you may need it!
