I just started rereading SS7, Baby-sitters at Shadow Lake, which has always been, I guess, my least-favorite Super Special. Or maybe it's just the least-memorable as far as I'm concerned; I almost never think of it at all when I'm thinking about the BSC books. So today I was at the store, buying some peaches. And of course, I remembered Peaches from the BSC. And it got me thinking: How did Peaches get her name? Any theories?

There's no book where we find out Nannie's first or last name, right? Just wondering for the BSC wiki. It drives me kind of insane having to just call her "Nannie" in an encyclopedic format. Something came up in bsc_snark that I felt was worth discussing here. How come Claudia and Janine never learned to speak Japanese? We know that Mimi had tried to teach Claudia, but Claudia was never that interested. Not surprising, since Claudia had enough trouble with English without having to bring Japanese into it. one thing that has always struck me about Claudia and the Sad Good-Bye, and perhaps even more so now that I grew up into a person with a heavy interest in narrative/literary theory, is how Mimi wrote her own obituary and foresaw the date of her own death.
