Plan 9 From Outer Space is often cited as the worst movie ever made, written-directed-produced by Edward D. Wood Jr. It is one of my alltime favorite movies, but am a major conisuer (sp?!) of B-movies. What's it about? Ummm...Uhhh....erm....aliens invade earth to stop us from inventing the "solaranite bomb" and they reanimate the dead (including Bela Lugosi, who died before the film was finished--or technically started--and was replaced by Ed Wood's chiropractor in a wig and a cape in most scenes) and...uh...stuff.

Favorite lines (I swear I'm not making this up)

"We are here because of death."

"You see? You see? Your stupid minds! Stupid! STUPID!!!"

Anyway--this proves why Dawn is my favorite character. Because at 13 I *was* seeking out crappy movies like this! Still am, in fact.

Also check out the Johnny Depp movie "Ed Wood". Depp is BRILLIANT in it. The movie is often funny, but there's some sad stuff. It's all about Wood's real life.

It's actually what the Buffy TV series is based on. The TV show is way better, but the movie has major amusement and camp factors.

Oh man, I think I was 14 when I saw Plan 9 From Outer Space for the first time. I was visiting my dad, who didn't have a VCR or cable and was at the mercy of what was on the local channels. When he spotted this movie, he said, "You have to watch this - it's the worst movie ever! You'll love it!" It definitely has the worst special effects of all time.
The marathon definitely sounds awesome, as long as the theme for the evening is "bad movies!"

I'd seen "Plan 9," "Glen or Glenda," "Bride of the Monster" and "The Sinister Urge" by 13. But even if you don't think 13 year old girls like EXTREMELY famously bad sci fi, Sharon was in on it. Maybe she picked it.

But yeah. That is an awesome line up, and made me happy because it's totally a set of movies my mom and I would pick.

*lol* I don't remember that part, but I'm just glad they decided to watch real movies instead of making up fake ones.
