I'm currently re-reading Super Special 5, "California Girls!" and I just came across something really weird. I was pretty sure that Mallory's parents have always been John and Dee. The Complete Guide even lists Mr. Pike's name as being John

I noticed that when I first read it years ago - I just chalked it up to another mistake. You get used to it when your fandom is stuck in a timewarp ;)

Yeah, but the mistakes make fun little pokes into AU possibilities. Ask any X-Files fan about the flashback episode where Mulder was wearing a wedding ring. David Duchovny admitted doing it to mess with the fan's heads, but that hasn't stopped the writing of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of "ring" fics.

Now....what can we do this one eh? *evil grin*

LMAO - I didn't get into the X-Files til last year, when I watched all the mytharc episodes on Netflix, and I totally noticed this and wondered if it had ever been explained or anything. Good to know the true explanation. :) (As if XF's continuity wasn't screwed enough already!)

I'm a die-hard X-Files fan and I never knew this, but then I avoided that fandom like the plague - those people were crazy.

Yep, totally noticed this when I read it. I kind of wish it had stayed as Daniel. There are too many Johns in Stoneybrook as is.

I also thought it was weird in SS #1 that John/Daniel won that trip due to a contest at work that involved naming a product. I thought he was a lawyer, what do lawyers have to do with naming products? I think Daniel, the advertising guru become John, the lawyer.

i just read hello, mallory! and in it she says her dad is a corporate lawyer... perhaps it was for the corporation he worked for. but anyway the john/daniel thing drove me nuts, too. tho, i love that they are john and dee? because a couple who are friends of mines names are jon and dee. *dork*

The same thing happened with Jessi's dad. Squirt has always been John Philip Ramsey, Jr. but in one of the Super Specials, she addressed a postcard to "Mr. and Mrs. Alex Ramsey".
