One of my friends lives in NYC and she's told me how high rent is there. There is no way Ed can afford the kind of apartments he does (or that Maureen and Stacey could shop at all the expensive stores) unless he was loaded. The only thing that could be explained away without him being loaded would be the Broadway shows because he could've gotten free tickets from Laine's dad.
