OMG, swoooon!!!!!
This is all I hoped and dreamed it would be.
"She Walks in Beauty" is, like, only my favorite poem ever; I sang it in choir as a high schooler and loved it ever since. LOVE the names. Love the interactions and the characterization and the pure sweetness. Comes off real and believable and touching without being at all cliche. You are my hero!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thank you so much! Reading this made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially knowing that I was able to make it believable. I was a bit nervous posting this, because it's unlike anything I've written before, but I'm so glad you like it!
I'm so glad that by pure coincidence, I was able to incorporate your favorite poem as well! "She Walks in Beauty" makes me all starry-eyed and happy. I love the Romantics in general, and in my mind, the Pikes are literary geeks who have no problems with naming their kids after famous poets and writers :P
THANK YOU AGAIN. <3

Awww, thank you so much!

I will try to write more of them (and the Pikes in general), in some of my other prompts...though I really should branch out, but it's hard because I LOVE THE PIKES SO MUCH, AND THEY ARE SO ADORABLE AND FUN TO WRITE.

*Ahem*

Glad you liked it! :)

That was so sweet. Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit at the end.

You can just write John & Dee's life stories, and that will be fine. :)

Awww, thank you so much!

I have actually been tempted to do longer fics for both of them, but I wasn't sure if enough people would be interested. I'd really love to write one for Dee in her her high school years.

Awww.....nice. I may have a little crush on your John Pike.

The thing that always got to me about the Pike parents is not just that after the triplets they have four kids under two, but they went on to have Vanessa just a year later. While they were dealing with a young toddler and three babies, it somehow made so much sense for them to have a fifth? That's true insanity.

regarding this, and suggestion for a future fic... perhaps birth control gone awry? I highly doubt Dee would nurse triplets, but if she did, and were taking that low-hormone pill, you have to take it at the same time each day or use back-up. Or even, she intended to take the regular (which is more forgiving in the regularity) but ended up taking the low-hormone accidentally, then Claire & Lucy came over when the triplets are 2-3 months and said "We are watching these kids and you are going to a hotel overnight"? There's the ever-popular condom broke, though if I'd had 4 babies in less than 2 years, I'd be using something with less possibility of human error.

Of course, that doesn't explain Nicky or Margo, but hey, there are endless possibilities...

Now, that just made me laugh out loud. I know all about that low hormone BC, I took it when I was nursing my oldest. It's patently unfair to expect a woman to remember to take it every 24 hours exactly, at the time of her life she's least able to remember ANYTHING. If I'd had four babies in less than two years, my husband would be getting snipped so fucking fast his head would spin. As it is, I'm less than eight weeks from delivering my second (in four and a half years) and I'm already thinking of making that call for him....

Yeah, I took it while I was nursing my first, until we decided to try for another (which happened when #1 was 7mo, yikes). This time, I got an IUD. No remembering. phew.

Anyway, how this relates to the Pikes is that I can see them not wanting to do anything permanent after the triplets are born - like thinking about having another once the triplets are at least potty trained if not college graduates), but then rolling in the hay just once when someone forces them to get a hotel room for a night, and through a condom break or BC pill gone awry, there's Vanessa!

Again, this doesn't explain Nicky or Margo.

So much love for all of these Pike stories you're doing, I'm really enjoying them.

I have a question though: how much of the backstory stuff - Dee's especially - is canon and how much is yours? Because I swear some of the elements in here are familiar (Dee being short for Diana, her maiden name being Bennett, Jordan being named after a deceased brother of hers), to the point where I'm likely to insert them into my own prompt stories when I start doing them... but if those things aren't really canon, why are they striking me as so familiar??

Dee's maiden name being Bennett is canon. It's from one of the Super Specials (European Adventure, where Mal also finds out they're related to Shakespeare), that they mention it.
As for the brother thing-- mizzmarvel wrote an amazing drabble about Dee's brother dying when she was sixteen (though from falling into a frozen pond), and I adored the drabble so much, it sort of became my headcanon as well. (I hope she doesn't mind!!).
And I always thought it was weird that the Pike kids were never close to their grandparents, so that's why I made Dee's mum sort of um, unpleasant :P

Ah. I've not read European Adventure, but I'm sure others have used Bennett and that's why I know it. Is her legal name really Diana, too?

And THANK YOU for reminding me of that drabble... that indeed is why I thought Dee's-brother-Jordan sounded like canon. :)
