jon and i just got back from what was by far the most enjoyable way to spend this fourth of july.  i was desiring quiet, not partying, fireworks and beer.  maggie the dog was seriously freaking out on saturday night due to the warm up fireworks.  so we spontaneously took a last minute suggestion and went to opal creek, a little pocket of willamette ( Read more... )

that was sweet of you to take your dog there. my friend had his dog over at my house and even in oly the fireworks were making that poor muffin shake. But some cuddling helped a lot.

The animals in my life have never really enjoyed the 4th of July... and wow, I had no idea that in Portland 4th of July meant that every household has their own min firework show right in their own yards, it was pretty crazy, the popping and cracking all around everywhere, I think even too much for me to enjoy.

How nice you went to Opal Creek, I love that place. :) We went once last summer on a day hike, we biked in and then hiked through Jaw Bone Flats to the wonderful creek area. So pretty there! I have been looking forward to going back and camping somewhere near the creek ever since. Sounds like a perfectly wonderful way to spend the 4th.
