a technicality

A reminder that signups for rpfremix close tomorrow night! If you're thinking of signing up, now's the time. We still need more people, and CW RPS people specifically. I note quite a few people who'd said "participate, definitely" on the poll have NOT signed up, which perplexes me. Are y'all waiting for certain other people to sign up or something? the play's the thing, makes the people come together, so you'd better treat him right, food is love, the same only different

I used to love to bake bread, but I don't have time for it anymore. Maybe someday.

Still sending good thoughts on the job front. And don't you have vocal exercises you know! DO THEM! I used to know a bunch back in my choir days (long, long past) but they always helped.

I was a 2nd alto in 6th grade and could hit a D below middle C in college. So we're kind of on opposite ends of the spectrum. (grin)

Seriously, though? This bread takes less than an hour from mixing bowl to fully-baked, 45 minutes of which is baking time -- so the actual prep is about 15 minutes. And it was really good!

I know vocal exercises, but it's not that kind of problem -- my technique for picking out notes is just fine. The problem is engaging all the right parts of the body (diaphragm, abdominals, etc.) -- I don't need them for "regular" singing, and so I feel like I don't need them for this singing. Having not been in a chorus in almost a year, I'm just out of practice and I have to remind myself that even though they may not want a choral *sound*, choral *technique* is important.

And you're right, you and I are opposites :) Sometimes *I* have trouble with the D below middle C! :D

Huh, we must have very different bread recipes. Mine always required a lot of kneading, then letting it rise, and then more kneading. Cause I made yeast breads with whole wheat flour. Man, they were good. Hmmmm....

Yep, the exercise of the abdominals is essential if you're going to sing night after night. I haven't done it in years.

I love to sing, though. But I think it's funny that in the 6th grade my singing voice was probably deeper than yours is now. (grin)

Well, this particular bread doesn't take much time at all; that's why it's popular. It uses baking soda for the leavening rather than yeast. When I make yeast breads, yeah, it takes quite a long time, but they are good. This one's good, too, but in a very different way.

Man, I didn't say definitely did I? Because I was all for signing up until I realised I don't fit the criteria, fic-wise. Haven't written enough! Which sucks, but there you go.

Nope, you were a "maybe" :)

And yeah, I wish there didn't have to be restrictions, but they're there because sometimes weird situations crop up (when, say, your remixee's only written one story that's 400 words and is of a person and/or theme you just can't stand), and we have to be able to stop them from happening!
