stomping on peons

So the thing that *really* irks me about the job search is that most companies don't feel they have to call or email you when they decide to hire someone else. I've now had this happen on two separate occasions -- I call back after the appropriate amount of time, and they say "oh, sorry, we filled the position" or "oh, we moved that position up to ( Read more... )

On the one hand, I hear you that it sucks... but on the other, the last time I was actually papering the town with my resume, my resume:interview ratio was around 24:1, so. The sympathy from this direction is therefore somewhat limited.

(psst: I have BOCA 2006 and can zip it up for dl when I get home, if you want)

Yes, yes. I'm aware I've gotten a high interview rate, but. I'm kind of out of ideas at this point. :-| I got a call from a woman at Google, but they're hiring at... 7K less than I make now for what amounts to glorified customer service. I don't know if I want to take that kind of career nosedive just to get into the graces of Our Great And Glorious Googly Masters, you know?

Something will come along, mister man. *pets* And who knows? I've gotten more jobs from just having my resume randomly spotted on Monster than I ever got other ways, so. *hands*

(YES YES YES A CAPPELLA WHEE!)

I will get right on that directly I get back home, then, because right now, I am totally pretending to WORK! *sarcastic thumbs-up of WIN*

Also, I spent like ten minutes in the car rhapsodizing once again over how much I love that the acronym is "boca" and how perfect that is for what it is. And I know that everyone else is probably all *yawn, whatever* but I cannot help it if the interplay of words and meaning is the most FASCINATING THING EVER TO ME. (Also also, the album is excellent. I give it two definitely non-sarcastic thumbs up.)

Also^3, pls to see icon, just because. *does the Beanpot-winnin' office-chair dance*

My resume's been on Monster for ages and I've gotten... one email? I think. It may have been from some other job site. Let's just say I have been less-than-impressed by Monster.

Huzzah! I haven't been on an a cappella kick for a while, but I do have... most of the early BOCAs on mp3 :)

I am also amused by your surge of collegiate love recently :D

I love the first week of January for the cheap christmas cards and wrapping paper and tinsel, and the week after valentine's day for the cheap chocolate!

We had wind chills in the negative digits last week. I saw about three people outside biking. People here are crazy.

I think that's rude of them to not tell you, after they interviewed you!

TWO MORE DAYS WHEE. ::counts pennies::

And yes, it IS rude of them. But that's the way the job market works. Le sigh.

Job hunting is alot like trying to get a boyfriend. You gotta kiss a bunch of frogs before you find your prince.
