Her head and her long trenchcoat were soaked, as were her shoes.  Molly grimaced and patted her hair, wondering why she hadn't opened the umbrella a minute earlier. This wouldn't be a good look onstage.

But then, while her looks were a bonus, they certainly weren't the real reason her partner kept her around. She'd been taking over more and more ( Read more... )

Molly brought the umbrella at her side up and open in one fluid motion as the rain poured down around her. Her head and her long trenchcoat were soaked, as were her shoes. "A car ride!" The excitement! Genta scrambled into the front seat, looking around him eagerly. Like any boy he was fascinated by cars and driving, but did not often get to ride in one. "Where are we going? Can I steer? Can I use the horn?"

Snape slid into the back without speaking, he pulled his collar up to hide the bandages. He was still in poor shape, and his head ached.

"St. Mungo's," he said. "I need--"

Needed something, by Merlin, to stop the pain and let him rest and maybe then the hallucinations would stop. He wasn't sure which in the jumble of his armored mind were the truth; that he was a wizard or that he was a spy on the lam or that he were a a chemist or --

Any of it.

"I need a damned clinic!"

Molly grinned at the eager boy with her in the front seat. "I'm going to work, kid, you can steer as long as you're doing a good job of it, and you can use the horn now, if anyone else drives poorly en route, and when we get there." Letting little boys drive might go against various laws and rules, but Molly didn't pay much attention to those anyway. As long as he didn't crash the car and kill her, Molly had no objections.

And at the backseat exclamation, Molly nodded with a glance back over her shoulder. "You certainly do seem to. We'll pass one on our way to the theater, and I can leave you there." It was perhaps a rather callous way to respond, but at least she hadn't left him lying on rainsoaked sidewalk. She felt no guilt for leaving him rather than waiting to be sure of his condition. Molly had plans, and while she took an "anything goes" attitude about anyone and anything that didn't interfere, she was very single-minded.

Magic Show onewomanrave May 26 2011, 19:22:26 UTC
Completely disregarding the finer points of the sawing a woman in half trick, Molly simply veiled everything below her shoulders and threw an illusion onto the other half of the box. Sure, for some things she was learning the niceties, but why bother when this trick was both currently popular and easy enough for a magic user without that knowledge? Besides, this way, it was another trick entirely hers, another part of the act for which her fellow performer was completely dependent on Molly's abilities ( ... )

Why should he have to be here? There were so many other interesting things he could be doing. He could have been solving puzzles or reading the new mystery novel that had just come out. But no, instead he was stuck watching this magic show with mediocre tricks. Well, he couldn't deny that there had been something odd about some of these tricks. The method wasn't nearly as obvious as he'd seen before. It almost seemed as if there was some other factor to it. But still, they were only magic tricks. Games played with human perception and gullibility.

As the magician's assistant moves to the audience participation section of the show, Conan sinks down low in his seat and wishes the show was over already.

"Hmmm," Molly stage-whispered as she considered the small sea of people, "You there, with the glasses near the middle of the third row. You don't look like you're enjoying yourself nearly enough." Her voice rose back to its usual tone when she continued, "How about you come up here and let me do something about that." It was a win-win, as far as she was concerned. Either Molly got to brighten a boy's day, or she got to watch a skeptic and spoilsport squirm up on stage. The former would garner a rare sincere smile, and the latter? She smirked in anticipation. Plenty of amusement to be had, that's for sure.

What Conan really wanted to do was bluntly refuse and leave the theater. He'd already wasted a good hour here and he definitely didn't want to have to act like he was excited about these simple tricks.

But if he did that, he could count on being scolded for his rude behavior by nearly everyone he knew. Being treated like a child was a real pain sometimes.

So instead he shakes his head reluctantly. "That's okay. I don't really want to go up on stage. Why don't you pick someone else?"

Alcohol and Possible Intrigue onewomanrave May 26 2011, 19:24:49 UTC
After the show, Molly had places to be, places where people knew to find her. It should be a relaxing evening unless, of course, something came up. Molly rarely made changes in people’s minds unless strictly necessary. Experience had shown the results to be too unpredictable for her comfort. On the other hand, she wasn’t above a little information gathering on her own behalf or when someone made it worth her while. Certain parties employed her when torture proved ineffective.

Allowing the long coat to slip from her shoulders as she settled onto a bar stool, Molly ever so slowly crossed one long mostly-bare leg over the other. She didn't glance around the bar for reactions, knowing full well the appreciative looks she had garnered.

"What’s a girl gotta do to get a drink in this joint?"

"Ask nicely," a young Asian-looking man with long hair suggested in a rather dry tone. He was sitting at the other end of the bar, looking a little annoyed - probably due to all the confusion the Storm had brough, including a city popping up - and, quite surprisingly, he didn't seem at all affected by Molly's actions that had gotten the attention of mostly every other man in the lounge. In fact, he just have her a disapproving look and turned his gaze back to the glass in front of him.

Kanda had gotten there by accident, really. He had spent a good while in the Woods now, and then there was suddenly a rain, a city, and even his clothing had morphed into something ridiculous - well, the long coat wasn't too bad, but the hat he made sure to 'lose' at the first opportunity. He gave up on trying to work any sense into this, after all waking up in a magical wood had been just as unbelievable, but that didn't mean he had to enjoy this strange situation.

Now, there were two ways for Molly to react to that response; it wasn't unheard of, of course, for someone to not fall for her charms. She could nudge just a little magically and see if that made a difference, but really, that was the easy way out, and it wasn't as if he'd shown any likelihood of either furthering or hindering Molly's agendas. No, instead, she would probably just take it as a challenge to get some kind of real reaction out of him, be it positive or negative.

"That can be managed," she replied, leaning forward across the bar and catching the bartender's eye. "Barkeep," she said, voice sweet and inviting, "Would you mind getting me something to drink, please? I'd appreciate it ever so much." When asked her preference, Molly merely shrugged one shoulder and answered, "Surprise me," with a smirk.

Kanda arched an eyebrow slightly as he watched the young lady do just what he had suggested, and apparently successfully at that. He's only meant it as irony, not an actual tip, but oh well, if it worked he wasn't going to complain. It was a little strange though; the bartender seemed really fired up on the task, even forgetting to ask for money, at least for now, as he fixed up the drink. Was that humans' usual way of doing things? It just seemed a little impractical, but when he thought about it, it kind of made sense.

He realized he was still gazing at the small scene and turned away againg, grumbling a silent "Tch, not bad". It wasn't even interesting, there just was literally nothing else to do and going out in this weather wasn't appealing unless necessary.
