They'll speak of girls who met their fate in shadows in the wood...

The walk out to the Dark Woods is uneventful, if perhaps a little unsettling. What starts out as a bright, breezy spring day becomes less and less cheerful the farther the group gets from the barracks.

The wind drops off first, then the birdsong, and then all sound but the rescuers pushing through the underbrush. The trees start to grow closer together, taller and more twisted, until the midday sun is almost completely blocked out, leaving the forest floor in perpetual gray twilight.

As the rescuers break off into smaller groups and go their seperate ways, the quality of the silence changes - there's an unshakeable sense now of something watching, poised and waiting. A cuckoo calls tentatively, somewhere in the trees, and it's no time at all before all the groups have moved out of sight and earshot of each other... which just leaves five small groups of three or four people, walking into the darkness alone.

[The list of groups and targets is available here, for reference - if you have any questions regarding the plot or the Dark Woods, those can be asked on that post as well. Go ahead and make threads for your group (or tag into your group thread if one already exists), explore the dark woods and try to find those lost here. Good luck.]
