Tonight Danny is lying on top of the wall, staring up at the stars. No telescope here, but he could still try to pick out the constellations.
He'd tried to sleep, after finally making it to the barracks. Really he had. Cause hanging out in the forest fighting porcupine wolves? Not exactly conductive to a good night's sleep.

The other annoying thing is that they're taking up space. Mogget would expect to find some privacy in spots that humans don't normally go to, like the roof of a cabin, or a tree, or on top of the wall. But no. This ragtag band apparently like to sit on roofs or wander around accompanied by giant metal tigers or something equally outlandish.

She leans a hip against the wall and tilts her head. "You don't sound like you're a stranger to this kind of thing. Karrin Murphy - from Chicago, was with the police department there."

Danny tenses. Seriously, what was with all the overly observant people around here. Time to make use of one of his stock excuses.
"My parents hunt ghosts. I couldn't help picking up a few things." He waits a beat and hastily adds on. "Yes, ghosts are real. Yes, my town is the world record holder for number of ghost attacks on a single town. And no, Mom and Dad are not loons."
