For most of the night, Dean's been wandering around the grounds of the carnival -- not only scoping out how sketchy it is, but trying to find his brother. Place this big, it's easy to lose track of the people you came with. Even though a part of him hopes Sam's just tucked away in the brothel somewhere, the paranoid and doubting part of him that Anna woke up is sure he's on the shadier outskirts on it.
So, that's the first place he heads to look around for him. He weaves his way between the tents, peeking around corners and subconsciously trying to sneak up on him, like he expects to catch him in some kind of compromising position feasting on the blood of innocent children.
Spoiler: he's probably not. But that doesn't stop Dean's mind from going to the weirdest, most paranoid places now that the lid's been blown on that particular demon-y, morally bankrupt secret.
