If you mean humans, there's about... [A pause as he considers.] Three or four dozen, give or take. And most of them are over at the barracks - big wooden fort-y type thing, I assume you've seen it?

Nonhumans, though... There's quite a bit more of those. All over the forest.

Yes, that's where I am now. Zhaneel said it was the safest place to be. But I haven't really had a chance to explore yet.

Are you talking about the monsters everyone keeps mentioning?

Because I have to tell you right now, even though it sounds pretty crazy? The forest is filled with all kinds of monsters, so you don't want to be out there on your own.

I heard some things about that, I think. That the forest was filled with magic and monsters. It all sounds very strange to me. Not like home or Aunt Jen's farm at all.

I would have liked to explore this place, I think. I like to learn about new places. But even if the woods weren't dangerous I don't think I would be able to walk very far.
