The Corps is knitted.

Two years ago I crocheted a pair of B5 pot holders. When I signed up this year, I was set out to do another fannish craft project and I had one specific project in mind. Well, turns out I made something completely different. The funny thing is that it's something that was actually mentioned in the comments, though I didn't realize that until I ( Read more... )

Oh my Gaaaawwww, that's so cute. Sometimes I wish I knitted instead of crocheted so I could do totally awesome things like this. (Then I remember you have two+ needles to deal with, heh.)

What's great about this hat is that you could totally wear it out and no one would necessarily have to know about its inherent amazing geekiness. And, you know, you can pretend you're a telepath while you've got it on.

Hee, thanks. :D I've never considered knitting (or crocheting) difficult, because it's something we learn in elementary school or even earlier from our parents/grandparents. I'd say if you're even the tiniest bit interested, take a ball of thick yarn and a pair of needles and give it a go. It can be pretty addictive once you get the hang of it. ;) And even when it's on two needles, it's not that difficult. You're mostly working with just one hand, the other is just there to adjust the yarn, just like in crocheting.

Um. Can you tell I try to get people hooked on crafts? ;)

You're so right. It doesn't shout "Omg, no-life geek ahead! *points and laughs*" and looks more like a regular beanie with a random logo on it. But when you know what it means, you totally get it. Plus, yeah, it'd be awesome to be a teep so a big dose of imagination while wearing this might make the super early morning walks to the campus just a tiny bit more interesting. ;D "You there, you by the red lights, I'm totally scanning you. Uh, you're thinking what? Eww

Fantastic the crafty soul in me is doing a happy dance...do you do crochet at all for any B5 stuff (I haven't knitted since I was in Brownies ( 60 gazillion years ago!)

:D Happy dance is good, yesyes.

I do crochet and knit pretty equally, but I haven't really made a lot of B5/fandom stuff besides the pot holders I linked to. I get the occasional idea for something or other that I'd love to do, but only very few of them get done in the end. Some ideas are B5, some are for some other fandom (like a cross-stitch covered crochet pot holder I did for a friend, featuring the ever-adorable black mage from the early Final Fantasy games). I'd love to make myself a Keeper of my own one day. Or the whole gang in cute amigurumi form. If only I had the time and patience.

I really wish there were more crafty ideas out there, because combining crafts with fandom is so much fun. :D

Awesome idea and it turned out great. Btw. I'd vote for gloves instead of mittens. ;)

Thanks. :D Yeah, I originally thought of making mittens because I'm such a mitten fan (let's not even mention fingerless mitts... it's unnatural how much I like making them), but gloves would be so much more, eh, fitting. :D So I'm leaning towards gloves myself. Maybe just basic black ones without any logos or anything. I don't know, will have to consider that a bit more.

Oh my gosh, that's awesome! Looks really good. Can't wait to see the cowl. You know me and cowls. ;) I vote for gloves. Obviously. :D Also, I love your teddy bear. *squee*

You could bring some of your badge materials with you the next time you come here, maybe we'll have a brainstorm. :)

:D Thanks. It's not that printed t-shirt I had in mind, because this idea came from left field and insisted on being made. Didn't feel like telling you because I thought it'd be a funny surprise. ;) And yeah, I love cowls as well, so I'm doing my darndest to figure out what I want it to look like. I want it to fit this beanie but I don't want to overdo the logo thing. *ponders some more ( ... )

That was a nice surprise. :D *ponders how to replicate the hat*

The logo should be quite subtle on the cowl, I think. And oh dear, the gloves... Basic black ones would be so very fitting, but they might be a bit "blah". How to get the badge incorporated? You can't just stick it on. Well, you can, but that might be a bit OTT.

See, you have totally dragged me into this brainstorming already. :D We need to continue this face-to-face, as I'm seriously falling asleep here. Pathetic!

Honey, I'm planning to make some clothes for my Yoda. So, I guess I’m about six too... Um. Oops. ;)
