Wow, my head is spinning

After a quick shower-brush-hair-out-the-door this morning, we had a quick continental breakfast and then settled in for the first presentation of the day.  The presenter was disjointed and hugely disorganized because she had decided to change her presentation this morning!  To matters worse, she went over her time by half an hour. One of my SK ( Read more... )

I'd like to know where the SK OB gets his numbers from; in every data set I've ever seen, midwifery care has been a huge cost savings to the medical services plans.

Yeah, I'm curious to know as well. When he said that, it was obvious that everyone in the room disagreed with him and he offered to "discuss it further" after the presentation. I didn't talk to him about it, but I noticed our SCM registrar and two midwives in a huddle around him later. Maybe I'll see where he gets his numbers from. Jerkus.

Curious how do they mention positive reinforcement to women pregnant from rape that decide to keep the baby? I've heard stories being closer to "inner city" now more than ever and at least 6 women who birthed at home and either ended up with complications causing the baby death or let the baby perish shortly after and hiding the body. I can't wrap my head around letting a little soul go on those terms and wasn't sure how they approached that.

Physician care costs the HEALTH SYSTEM less than midwife care? *brain explodes*

The only time I've heard of physician care being cheaper is for the WOMAN, when her insurance covers doctor care, but not midwife care. (I'm in the US, so the insurance thing is a big deal.) The math... it does not compute...

On a completely different note... I'm so excited to hear that you're almost done with the gas station! I never liked reading about you working there - it seemed awful! I know you were doing what you needed to for your family, but still... yuck.

Oh, and in response to your post awhile back that LJ peeps had gotten awfully quiet... I got married and got really, really busy, especially now that school's back in session (I'm a teacher). I know you probably weren't missing me, specifically, much, but I thought I'd answer. :)
