When I got home from work I came in the house to make a phone call and saw that I had some phone messages.

First message was from my mom, telling me to call. I knew right away what it was about and I knew it wouldn't be good news.

I am so sorry for your loss, J. I thought about her yesterday when I had a scotch mint.

And yes: good news for us. It's about time. For now, let's all breathe deep and move through this holiday season with as much grace as we can muster--grief, overwork/overwhelm, and anxiety nonetheless.
