i'm thinking about staying near the airport.....
how's that for transportation?? i mean i can catch a shuttle from the airport to my hotel but to get from my hotel to the general downtown, north york....inner toronto workings....how is that?

As for the airport, it's in Mississauga, so unless you want to schlepp your luggage around on a GO bus and then the TTC, you might as well suck it up and pay the 60ish bucks for a limo. Trust me, it works out cheaper than a cab.

2. If you stay in North York, make sure you're somewhere that at least has a streetcar to the subway line. As long as you're near a subway, travelling is extremely easy.
There is a hotel just up the street from me that I've stayed in before - it's as cheap as you'll find for downtown, and right across the street from a subway station. It's a Clarion on Sherbourne, if you want to look into it.
I really can't stress enough how important it is to make sure you're near the subway. For doing the tourist thing in Toronto, it's the ONLY way to get around.
