richmond hill is fairly close to TO in the scheme of of the GTA, but its still like a 40 min drive to get to the heart of it...your best bet is probably finding a hotel closest to where ever you plan to be the most...you can get to north york via the subway/busline fairly easily...in fact i think you can bus to the other places without ever going near the subway...

hrmmm lol i need more info to give better advice

love kazz

Richmond Hill is really not convenient to downtown at all. North York is, however. Anywhere on the subway line is no problem.

As for the airport, it's in Mississauga, so unless you want to schlepp your luggage around on a GO bus and then the TTC, you might as well suck it up and pay the 60ish bucks for a limo. Trust me, it works out cheaper than a cab.

1. Do not stay near the airport. It's not TTC accessible, which makes it a HUGE pain in the ass to get ANYWHERE.

2. If you stay in North York, make sure you're somewhere that at least has a streetcar to the subway line. As long as you're near a subway, travelling is extremely easy.

There is a hotel just up the street from me that I've stayed in before - it's as cheap as you'll find for downtown, and right across the street from a subway station. It's a Clarion on Sherbourne, if you want to look into it.

I really can't stress enough how important it is to make sure you're near the subway. For doing the tourist thing in Toronto, it's the ONLY way to get around.
