Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer #1

Apr 27, 2015 15:27

Folks around here aren't feeling 'their' Superman anymore. I'm not one of those fans. Superman was boring, a boy scout, and a goody-two-shoes. I know it's been out for a while since the trailer dropped, but I wanted to speak about it ( Read more... )

Eh, matter of opinion, I guess. I never found him boring. Not once. In fact I never even understood the argument - the fact that he's 'good' is what makes me love him.

(But I'm also not a fan of what Snyder has done so YMMV and all that... )

Hi, btw! Long time no see! (I should talk, I'm rarely on LJ anymore...)

It has been a long time. I'm rarely over here which is a shame.

You know I do adore Superman, and everyone has an opinion about how he should written in the movies.

I thought yeah he wasn't written right since the first movie back in the 70s. It was time for a change. Tough choices needed to be made and Supes is as controversial as ever. At least people are talking about him. I see nothing wrong with that. He's still good just stronger and better IMO.

I'm looking forward to this one.

What did you think of the trailer? Did you hate it?

See, I thought the Reeve movies (Well the first two) were perfect. I'm just not feeling this change. I wish I was because I know the fandom is still strong and I feel bad that I can't squee but it is what it is and all of that. We will always share a love of Clois though!

It's hard to give that an honest opinion - I was at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim when I viewed it and well ... I watched BVS trailer once on my iPad while waiting to see Mark Hamill but after being in the room with all those other SW fans and the love that I felt over that trailer (OMG HOLY WOW - that Star Destroyer and then Han and Chewie? I CRIED NERDY TEARS, LOL) there was no way it could measure up. I watched it again a few days later and while I didn't hate it I didn't really love it either. I just sort of felt, "eh" which kind of makes me sad but ah well. :(

Yes, we will always have Clois. But even that is being pushed aside and Lois is being written like a shrew out to destroy him because he rejected her (that's how it seems).

Anyway, back to Superman. Part of the problem is comparisons to other fandoms (specifically Marvel), but I think that's unfair. He's in a class all by himself (on that we agree), and because he's scrutinized and reviled, but doesn't mean he deserves it. I think because he's been around for so long, but that doesn't mean that he can't be brought forward differently for a new generation of fans.

You have your opinion and I have mine. We both want him to prosper and move forward. I think we can agree on that too.

On another note, OMG! Star Wars! YOU WERE THERE? I'm jealous. The trailer was amazing yes yes. We've waited so long. I admit I got all misty at the end too!
