Sophia and I went ice-skating today; it was Sophia's first time ever, and my first time since 1991, I'd estimate. Back then I was 13 years old, my family was living in western New York State, and my youngest brother had not yet been born. . . . it was kind of nice to see the balance of the universe when the kid who skated in front of me and then stopped suddenly got his head bashed into the side of the rink when he ended up skating ahead of someone else and stopping suddenly without success.

I actually played ice hockey for a few years. It didn't take long to get the basics down.

One thing I found is that the rental skates are god awful. I have arches, but my feet *hated* the rentals. I bought a pair and they were much better, although still painful at the end of a full game. Eventually I spent a ton of money on high end skates, men's, a wide model, then stretched to make them even wider. Naturally I ended up quitting the following season =/

I like hockey. I don't like how late the games always are (they don't start till after all the kids have played their games, meaning you might be playing till after midnight), and I don't like how players tend to get in each others' faces and angry.
