I don't really have any suggestions, because nearly every year I give up the same thing - coffee. I've given up chocolate a couple of times (one year, I failed miserably - thanks to the engagement trip), fast food (anything with a drive-thru counts), and tea (that was a mistake - I drank coffee instead!), but coffee is my go-to. Coffee is one thing that I have all the time, without thinking about it. It's something that I miss terribly, and really enjoy once Easter comes along.
I don't really drink tea or coffee (shocking I know an irish person not addicted to tea) so thats no hardship. In the past I have given up all that I've mentioned on the blog, mainly sweets when I was a kid. Along the same lines as yourself I think failure will come the second weekend of march when I am going away with friends for a bit of a drinking holiday hmmmm...
They are delicious and although I am an outcast from my friends and some family members because of this, I do enjoy a nice oxo cube every now and again eaten like a sweet but it is a rare treat owing to the vast quantities of salt.
I try to be practical about what I give up. I won't give up soda or desserts because I'd be miserable in the process and take it out on other people. I don't drink enough coffee or eat enough chocolate to give those up. I have attempted fast food but failed miserably.
This year I am attempting a huge feat for me: I am giving up extraneous spending. I'm going to post more on what that means for me.
I am in the same boat. I don't know what to give up. So, instead, I might do something extra like be more positive or only say nice things during lent. Hmm, that doesn't sound like much fun though!
