For our Queen

Ba'al stared at the stargate then turned to the dozen Jaffa behind him. "We are walking into a trap. The chances of any of us surviving are slim. This is why my brothers were awakened." Ba'al looked up at clone 14, who stood above them on the balcony of their suite in the palace. "One of them will remain here. The other is already in position in ( Read more... )

Rae watched as the people in the room sent off tense vibes. Jon was staring at Danny, Rodney was staring at Danny and Rachel, Chuck was watching a lot of people. Sheesh. Suddenly, the device in her hand tingled. Her features hardened into aloof amusement as her voice resonated with the device. "Ding-dong, Ba'al calling. Let's do this, people." She raised the device to eye level and activated it. Ba'al's image filled the sphere as she smiled welcomimgly.

"My Queen. Steven. Are you ready for my arrival?"

"We are, My Lord Ba'al. I give you Atlantis."

He nodded to someone out of sight, then looked back at her. "Lower the shield, my love. My Jaffa and I are coming through." Rachel looked over at Chuck.

"You heard your new Lord. Lower the shield." He did so, and the device disconnected. Rae quickly set it down, rolling it out of the way toward the edge of the upper stairs so Rodney could retrieve it later.. She straightened, looking regal, and watched her currently most dire enemy walk through the Stargate.

Daniel flinched as Rae called out in her synthesized voice, and slumped, taking on the pose of a man beaten, one hand wrapped loosely around Steven's lower leg, as if he couldn't refrain from touching him.

He's not sure how much he'll be asked to participate--wonders if he's just going to end up being decoration, or whether Ba'al will call him forward, ask him to show his loyalty before he's stopped. The tremble that travels through is body isn't the least for show, and his fingers tighten on Steven's calf.

Ba'al stepped through the stargate and into Atlantis for the first time. Directly behind him was Chalnok and another Jaffa. There was a soft hum behind him and he spun around to stare in shock as a blue-ish energy shield covered the gate. He watched helplessly as his Jaffa slammed into it instead of stepping through.

Spinning around, Ba'al activated his personal shield and stared at the Tau'ri inpersonating his Queen. Face drawn tight in anger, Ba'al stood tall. "What is the meaning of this?" His let his eyes fall from Rae to Steven. >>Steven, what is happening? Is our Queen...?<<

This is the moment he's been dreading--the minutes before the 'gate disengages, when his line-of-sight to Rae is blocked. He can still see Daniel and Steven, can see his husband far above, sighting down Morena's long barrel at the intruding Goa'uld. The P-90 feels unwieldy and useless in his palms for a moment, but as the shield snaps into place, and he slips from his hiding place to approach the opposite side of the event horizon, his fingers become sure, comfortable again....things will work this time..they will...he's trapped, he's theirs

Radek's eyes narrowed as he removed one of his knives. He waited until Ba'al raised his left hand then threw it. It hit it's target perfectly and Radek watched in satisfaction as the shield gave out.

Ba'al cried out, holding his left hand, which now had a three inch knife through it. He looked up at Radek, who waved. Turning back to Rae, he smirked. "I won't see you again, Rachel MacGregor, but you will see me."

Ten seconds after the shield failed, an Asgard beam whisked Rae, Steven and Daniel away. Ba'al laughed as he watched, even as his spine was pierced with a bullet from Morena and he fell to the floor, paralized.

On board the al'kesh, Ba'al clone 15 smiled pleasantly at the three startled humans in the cargo room. As soon as they'd appeared he'd activated a force field to keep them in. "Hello. How would you like to go for a little ride?"

As silently as it arrived, the al'kesh left, cloaked and carrying three very important passengers.

Steven dropped to his knees behind the force field, hoping that Daniel would play along (or at least not cause too much trouble). He had to appear loyal to Ba'al or they would all be lost...

"Lord, I have failed you. Our position was compromised, they killed your Queen and forced me to go along with the ruse that she was alive and in control of the city. Allow me to..." He stopped to swallow nervously. "Allow me to redeem myself, please, Lord Ba'al."

John didn't flinch as a lead slug from Morena's barrel blew a substantial hole in Ba'al's back as a parting gift...Radek's aim was perfect, the only one in danger was the Goa'uld currently writhing on the floor in front of him.

He stepped forward and pulled away the now-useless device on the thing's left hand, Radek's blade sliding as easily from the ruined flesh as it had slid in.

"don't think I'm going to be the one paying here, man....I've still got use of my legs..."

There is a slight, prickling tingle along his skin, and a panicked, desperate shove from Atlantis has him glancing up just in time to see his wife and the two psuedo-slaveboys disappear in a shaft of whitish light.

John snatches the discarded knife from the gateroom floor as he sprints back over to the fallen Goa'uld, his knee pressing cruelly into the things' solar plexus.

"bring her back or you'll wish that bullet killed you, Ba'al...you'll pray for it, god or not....bring her back now....!

fearpanicANGER...

She'd detected the transport beam, been helpless to stop it without using more power than she had, but her sensors still worked, and the beam had given her enough information to pinpoint the signal of a cloaked ship in orbit. She tracked it until it left sensor range - it wasn't very long, the cloaked signal didn't register on the long-range scans. She'd know it if she ever saw it again, and knew which direction it had gone, but...
