I was fairly randomly browsing live journals and was amazed with how many times I came across people who were in some way connected - they were a friend of a friend on livejournal, or I'd seen them on a mailing list or something.

And then I found this -

A night like what? I'm no good at cryptic comments and am reading your journal for clues. It's very interesting.

What is REALLY scary is that I thought I had been making all my posts 'friends only', and you have brought it to my attention that I haven't always done so. Not that I mind you reading it at all, because I don't know you from Adam. However, I can't think of anything more embarassing than someone I actually know in real life reading my journal. And having stumbled across journals of real life people, I know that is not just a remote possibility.

I was just over-tired last night and something like that LJ Friends tool can really trap me for hours. I remember once spending hours hitting the random button on a similar night and just reading user info to see all the places people came from.

I was going to go friends only but just couldnt be bothered. I like the idea that people who don't know me might stumble onto my LJ but I'm also terrified that someone I know might find it too. Only one real life person I know reads my journal.
