I am done with LJ. I won't have time to post much in the next few weeks, but when I'm around it's going to be over at insanejournal (still b_hallward) at least until fandom gets something of our own up and running
( Read more... )
I'm already posting things on IJ that I'm not mirroring here. I do propose to continue discussions in comments that were made on LJ here, though, if only because I haven't found any effective way of migrating comments to posts. (Archiving them locally, yes, but not migrating them.)
The comment thing is particularly irritating, because some of the discussions I really don't want to lose are there (and some of those are in your journal, not in mine). I can only hope that somebody comes up with a tool that will fix this, in the not-to-far-distant future. Otherwise, I'm finding the transition surprisingly easy.

I agree. And I may end up commenting in a few journals over here, depending on who does and doesn't end up on IJ -- which means finally figuring out how OpenID works -- but I'm not going to be making any new posts to this journal except possibly to point people elsewhere.
Argh, comments! An alarming percentage of the content that I'd actually want to take with me is in comments. I hope a way to transfer them comes along soon, or, if for some technical reason that's impossible, I'll put links or... or something! And now I feel all Lear-like, I will do such things--What they are, yet I know not: but they will be...
You know, you Windows users have migration tools that aren't available on Mac, and for all I know some of them might be able to transfer comments.
If that turns out to be the case, and you find something that will do it, I'd be grateful for a heads-up on it. That would be a big enough deal that I'd be tempted to see whether I couldn't borrow a PC for long enough to do the job.
Mmmm, so many icons. I've forgotten just how much time I can waste trolling for new ones.
Your point about locked posts is an excellent one, and it hadn't occurred to me. (A seed of doubt has been planted -- and here I was so determined not to cross-post.) But either way, I'd hate to lose touch with you. dude. Since I can't make such a mushy statement without adding 'dude' for balance ^^
