Nah, that makes perfect sense -- I try to always have a couple of large, older fandoms like TS to fall back on, so I can find decent new fic easily when I've reached that unfortunate stage where you've already read most of the good, readily available fic in the fandoms you're really invested in. Running out of fics in smaller fandoms is so frustrating.

You know, I'm beginning to realize I have this massive, massive kink for detective-type partners falling in love with each other. Really everything from X-files to Yami to TS to 70s cop shows. How did I miss this?

I know, though I sometimes wish there'd be more of the whole military/anthropology/police/Jim's powers side of things, and less with the endless angst and/or fluff. Hell, I even get tired of porn sometimes, which is just so wrong.

You know, you might kind of dig my latest fandom, then. GetBackers has the partnership of Ban and Ginji at its center, and they're not detectives, but they are retrieval agents, which is related. Also, lots of waxing poetic about art.
You might check out stuff by kassrachel and cesperanza, to name just two who liked playing with the anthropology and senses. Laura JV is another name that comes to mind, and she did an interesting series that riffed off of Blair's throwaway line about flying choppers in "Siege." This is her site.

Heh. That seems to be how a lot of people find themselves in TS. I started out by reading the fanfiction, and only tracked down the canon later.
