GIP: icons (and whitman and saiyuki)

Apr 15, 2005 20:14

It always amazes me just how many things on lj I can be oblivious to. So, people, where do you find your icons?

And here's where we get to Saiyuki icons and the GIP part )

Haha, there are many many many comunities dedicated to sharing icons. And brushes. And outlines and gradients. And screencaps. I imagine there's probably something called yami_icons or something somewhere.

I like riko's list of resources a lot.

...and it turns out I'm right. Hmm.

That's scary. But thanks for the list -- just what I was looking for.

I get my icons off of the various communties, steal them from matsuei's wonderfully large collection, receive them as presents from people, or, in a last resort, make them myself.

And I think you shouldn't quit with the anime-and-poetry. I like it.

Sorry about the multiple comments. LJ hates me.

LJ is an equal opportunity hater.

But thanks. I keep worrying that I'm running afoul of the geek factor.

I'm so neurotic that I don't give icons as gifts: what if the other person doesn't really like it, but feels obligated to use it anyway? Of course, even I realize this is pitiful, but I'd have to get a whole lot better at making icons before I actually start foisting them off on specific victims.

I feel the same way about gift-fics. I managed it once, but every other time I've tried I start to feel like a kindergartner with a macaroni-and-glitter handmade card, and have to stop. I admire people who can do it, though.

I did a great meme a while back where people had to ask for gift icons, and that was a lot of fun.

I like this icon a lot; somehow I missed this post and was going to ask you if it was yours.

That's a gorgeous icon, and I love the sensuality of the poetry snippets. But then, I do that sort of thing myself, though usually I use song lyrics.

Thanks ^^

Although, finding a non-transformed Goku sexy still borderline squicks me. But what can I say, open shirts and collar-bones just do it for me.

Someday I'll make a group of icons that use lyrics, instead of poetry, if only to help kick the habit.

In this particular pic, he looks older, which I think helps. It's like Hisoka, in some pictures he looks appallingly young and I think, "I'm going to hell." In others, he looks older and I feel better about finding him attractive.

There's a fan drawing of an older Goku that is stunning. Have you seen it?

Between lyrics and poetry, there are a lot of wonderful lines and phrases begging to be iconized.

Yeah, he just barely hits that older teenage look where it starts being culturally comfortable to ogle.

And that drawing of Goku -- omg, totally gorgeous.
