So, I never did finish my fic for the femgenficathon Round 2. The reason? I'm an easily distracted LotR drabblist trying to write a lengthy piece in a new fandom. (Hey, the prompt was concerning pioneers; why not go all out?) So, instead of one piece totaling a minimum of 1000 words, I end up with two unfinished pieces roughly averaging 1150 words each, and one ( Read more... )

Very nicely done! I especially love these bits:
"...it was bruised as an assassin in the Vimes’ yard," wonderfully descriptive!
and:
"Even her lab time was limited by her back injury, for there were certain chemicals that one simply did not handle if one were not in possession of a healthy running ability." *giggle*
The addition of the footnotes were both very funny and in keeping with the style of the books!

This is a strong beginning for a much longer story... I hope you will have the time and inspiration to finish it as I would love to see the completed work. (unfortunately I don't have any suggestions for canon female characters since it's also been a very long time since I've read any of the Valdemar series.)

Notes Out of Time:For some reason... probably lack of time... I never really got into Firefly (though my hubby was a fan) but this is so well written that it's easy to follow even without previous knowledge. I love the interaction between Inara and River even without really knowing who they are in ( ... )
