A mixture of thoughts.

I still have a lot on my mind it seems. I thought i'd managed to clear my thoughts somewhat, and set aside the things that aren't imminently important, so i could actually concentrate on what is going on in the now. I completely agree with how hard it is to design your own sprites, while at the same time wishing that the ones that ARE freely available were more like what you wanted. For example, in my catchem space game, I opted for the battery to refil fuel simply because I could not find a suitable oil-can. Logically speaking, a battery works better for a space game, though, so I guess serendipity was on my side there.

Incidentally, today I found (and joined) gamemaker_group. At the moment it is neither big, nor busy, but I plan to use it, and hopefully it will grow a little. You know, "many hands make light work", 'n stuff!

I believe i shall join you on this venture! I should do the tutorials really. At the moment i ssem to latch on to an idea and spend a lot of time bringing it into a reality. My current obsession is allowing Bill to Jump properly without using a jump-left and a jump-right key!

The platform tutorial is perfect for this, however, it does take it as read that you know the various actions, events, and system variables. You shouldn't have too much of a problem going through it, but personally I would reccomend at least going through the shooter tutorial first.
