Memorial Day Weekend

I'm planning on visiting Boston on Memorial Day weekend with a friend. I'm driving there and picking him up at Logan. However I want to avoid driving and parking in Boston as much as possible. I'm also on a budget so can anyone recommend any inexpensive hotels/motels within walking distance of the T, or a short drive from a station that has parking ( Read more... )

I'll leave the Fenway-specific questions to others, but I've been in the bleachers and they were pretty great, too - it's a small park.

The Holiday Inn in Somerville is near the Orange Line and the Gateway Inn in Cambridge is a short shuttle ride from the Red Line - neither is fancy, but they're probably therefore somewhat affordable. If the weather is nice, you might check out the Harbor Islands National Park.

Delicious places to eat that aren't expensive: most of Chinatown, I usually choose the New Shanghai. Chacarero's Chilean sandwiches and Falafel King downtown. Most food trucks.

Oh no I would never ever recommend that slum hotel 'Gateway Inn' near Alewife. Avoid!

Seriously. Gateway Inn isn't even cheap!

There's http://www.acambridgehouse.com/ on Mass Ave in Cambridge right near Davis Square, which is charming and surprisingly affordable.

Homewood Suites also has a place in Arlington less than a half-mile from Davis Square. The Marriott at Kendall Square has been renovated in the past five or six years and is pretty decent and not terribly expensive.

Also look on airbnb - you may be able to find people willing to let you stay at their houses for a night or two for less money.

The Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum isn't that far from Fenway, and it's lovely and not something you'll find elsewhere.
