Also try "New York", "NYC", bus, hotel, etc. - 'cuz you know someone's going to be looking for this kind of info in a month... :P

I just have to mention Jersey buses and Jersey trains do not run all night, for those considering that option.

The only thing in Jersey that goes twenty four hours a day is the smell.

Also: www.boltbus.com
- Prices range from $1 - $20 depending on when you buy your ticket.
- Wi-Fi included on bus.
- New-ish bus line, so the bathrooms aren't as trauma-inducing as in other buses. And boltbus bathrooms have that "i'm slowly creating a super bacteria" gel for your hands and...wherever else one might unwisely decide to put it.

Boltbus also has a bunch more legroom than the Chinatown buses or Greyhound, and even more in the seats without power outlets.

Might be a tad more convenient for those in the Back Bay area.

The upside: They leave from right outside the Christian Science plaza, Huntington Ave side.
They have 2 pick-up spots in NYC, one up- and one downtown.
They do a brief CT rest stop
They stop in Hartford also
$15/$30

The drawbacks: To be safe, gotta reserve ahead
They leave from right outside the Christian Science plaza, Huntington Ave side. (No shelter)
Sometimes they use a van instead of a coach (based on # registrations)
Very limited # of departures (often during M - Th, none at all).

Interesting! Do they stop in Framingham?
This is a pain for those who travel from Framingham to NYC - Greyhound stops there but the tickets are $35-38 instead of $20 for BOS-FRA-NYC...

Nah, IIRC only Peter Pan does that.

Heading from New York to Framingham, you could always buy a cheap New York-Boston ticket and get off the bus early.

I found no sitting at night on Port Authority, as everything was closed until 6am...

well, I think sitting on the floor there would be brutal, the only sitting area they have at night is for those having tickets. I tried to find Starbucks somewhere in the vicinity, but it looked like none of them were open at night. :(
