History, and storylines, repeat themselves

Everyone has a guilty pleasure, a vice, something they love and may not admit to everyone, but they indulge it in it just the same. Mine is General Hospital, although that's not the biggest of secrets. In fact, I don't think it's really a secret at all. But I indulge in the daily melodrama, the long and drawn out storylines, and -- where some ( Read more... )

i wasn't very happy when i found out the show was killing off jake. i think this story was written before they decided to keep rebecca herbst and this was probably going to be the catalyst for liz leaving the show (perhaps she would've wound up in a mental hospital?). that's probably why the accident and organ transplant seemed so fricken rushed. i remember maxie being sick in the hospital for weeks before BJ's accident. and i remember felicia and mac sitting at her bedside (and frisco finally coming home to be there as well) BJ's accident seemingly came out of nowhere, which made it so shocking and heartbreaking. this story, was just a mess. from the fact that jake being a proper donor would be highly unlikely, to joss not having ANY IVs or tubes hooked up to her just moments after surgery???? carly rushing off to jason to try to get jake's kidney, even though she never even spoke to the doctor about starting chemo? OH and then carly running to terrell and telling him that "jake's father" said joss could have jake's kidney ( ... )

I wasn't exactly against killing Jake, but if you're going to do it, do it well, ya know? It was just rushed and seemed to serve no real purpose. With BJ's gift to Maxie, so much came out of that. Frisco came back, Bobbie's affair with Damien came out, it was multi-layered. This wasn't. Maybe that's what they're trying to do now with Luke, I don't know. But to me, if you're going to do something like that, either do it well -- like BJ's gift to Maxie -- or don't do it at all.

I haven't bought SV Confidential yet. I have read the brutal reviews, though, so I'm holding out until my library carries it. lol
