Well, guys, it's been a week since Phantom was released. Or almost anyway. (And there were already level 200 Phantoms within two days, created by people who weren't cheating. Clearly, I'm not hardcore enough.)

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT PHANTOM.

The great thing about not knowing anything about MapleStory is that I have no idea how much of your bio's are true canon stuff and how much is artistic embellishment.

I like to assume that it's predominately the former. 'Cos, why not?

Haha, I have to admit it is predominantly the former, just because the way the classes are set up. Mercedes, Phantom, Jett, and the upcoming Luminous classes are the only four classes in the game with set backstories. Technically Evan and Aran do too, but they've got more flexibility in that Evan is a successor to a hero and that Aran lost his/her memory as a result of the Black Mage's curse. So they can still be anything you want them to be.

With the other four classes, though, you are those characters when you create them. You're not just a Mercedes, you're supposed to be the Mercedes, and it's hard to ignore that thanks to the quest chains. So it gets a bit tricky to create a character in their classes because it's a lot like saying you're writing about a Princess Celestia who isn't ruler of Equestria and guardian of the day-night cycle.

But I'm thinking of fudging it anyway. With Vita, for example, she's not the queen of the elves but instead a member of the royal family. (It's also my headcanon that every other Mercedes
