Names for things.

Got a new computer. Should not be tempted to name it Bill. That's inviting all sorts of trouble.

Besides, all my laptops are female for some reason. Lanette is a good name, I think.

And I'll call her Beautiful as a nickname.

And then she'll probably hate me. Wait.

My laptop is called Baby! She's adorable, but occasionally chucks a fit XD

Ooh what did you get? :D /being a nosy computer nerd

I have no good names for you, unfortunately. I don't name my computers and stuff. IDK why, just never thought to name them. I have named my brother's computer Frankenstein/Frank though, because he built it using some old parts from different computers and it took us three months to get it to work. (Mostly because of power consumption problems; we went through at least 3 motherboards and 2 power supply units trying to find the problem). When it actually started working my first thoughts were 'It's alive!' XD

An Asus (insert tons of letters and numbers here as per usual for Asus comps). :D I've heard they're awesome, and honestly, I'm really, really tired of more mainstream brands. Like Compaq. Or Dell. Especially Dell. Fuck you and your power issues, Dell.

Frank is an awesome name for a computer, and I think you lot are awesome for building your own computer. (I will someday get to be that awesome too.)

Dell has power issues? O_o First I've heard of it, but I guess I may just have a different experience than you with it.

Basically, quite a large number of users who have had Dells (myself included) have reported that the battery doesn't last that long before beginning to die off. Some people have even reported that the battery included with the laptop only lasted a couple of months for them before needing to be replaced. Once you find that you need a new one, it's difficult to find a suitable replacement battery that also doesn't die off that quickly.

Eureka's battery, for comparison, lasted only about two years before I started getting messages that she wouldn't recognize it. That doesn't seem terrible except for the fact that there really was no warning before she started having those kinds of issues. The replacement battery lasted all of three months before I needed to keep her plugged if I planned on doing anything besides word processing with her for more than an hour.

I actually haven't named my laptop, nor my flute, despite the fact that I've had both for years. O_o Great, now I want to name my laptop Bill and my flute Lanette.

DO IT. Your electronics (and musical instruments?) will appreciate you more if you do.
