Every so often, I treat myself by getting a cross-stitch magazine. I don't do it often, because my favorites are the British magazines, which are kind of pricey on this side of the pond, but they're usually full of awesome ideas and come with free stuff, so I tell myself it's an investment

These are adorable and beautiful and I can't TELL you how much I love them. Thank you for sharing (though I would never do anything so crafty myself, but I love seeing what other fannish brains get up to!).

btw, if you are keen to make more, why not approach favorite fic authors or fandom friends and ask if they'd like one? with the understanding obviously that that means giving you a mailing address. I can't imagine anyone wouldn't be absolutely delighted and touched.

plus, it will probably work best/be most fun if you start with material that you genuinely love and know suits your purposes (isn't too long, lends itself well to graphics), than if you try to accomodate people's requests.

they're such lovely gifts, I wish I could think of something like that to do for my fandom friends.

I admit I am tempted to do something like that... and I know how hard it is to ask someone to make something for you. I thought last night I might try doing a give-away type thing on Tumblr (but with very specific rules, in that only the authors of the fics can request them).

I don't know - I thought it might be fun to make them for reals, like for money, but it gets into ethically weird ground because of the fanfic, so I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea. (Nor would I have any idea how to price them, or if that's a road I'd want to try, or... well, anything, really.)
