Aug 23, 2014 07:30

So I posted about Gridlock a few days ago - what happened that weekend.  I didn’t post about the who, which is what I’m going to talk about now ( Read more... )

This was such a lovely writeup. I'm feeling squeeful all over again just reading this. And it was really lovely to meet you and spend the con with you! The table and the party (for me anyway) would not have been the same without you, and I was really glad for the company, the food, and all your help. I'm really so glad you had such a good time! You absolutely deserved all the fangirling at you, and I take great pleasure in both fangirling and enabling others to fangirl at their faves. I was so glad I was able to direct that one person at you who was at the TPP table. :)

I hope you come to more cons! I hadn't realized you hadn't had the con experience in so long, but I'm glad it was such a positive experience for you. I really hope you can make it out to 221B con, which is much the same but bigger, 3 days long, and the TPP con suite is hella.

The table and the suite and serving out the food Saturday night were definitely in my highlights of the con - and I'd love to go to 221B, but it's all very much dependent on both Bill's schedule and the adoption situation, and I won't know for a while if it's even a possibility.

I had a fabulous time - thank you so much for helping make it so. :)

You absolutely deserve to be fangirled over! I know that for a long time you've written stories that are good - so, so good - but seem to have been underappreciated. And I don't know why that happens; why some stories end up on everyone's radar and rec list, and others appear to slip by undetected.

As you know, I loved your DW fic. I've loved your canon-based Sherlock fics (Power Play... fantastic!), although as you know AU isn't my thing. I am utterly delighted to hear that you got the recognition and admiration your work deserves, and I know that everyone who talked to you about your fic (or your cross-stitch, or your cooking) will have gone away now also knowing what a lovely, genuine, kind and funny person you are.

May there be many more Gridlocks in your future!

::blushes bright:: Thank you!

It's the Claw - or whatever that theory is. But that's okay - I don't mind going under the radar a bit, because at least if I'm under the radar, when I say things of wanky potential, they'll never really go much of anywhere.

And I've got my own little fanbase, apparently. (!!!) I'm good. Now, if only I could just feed them all...

YOU CAN FEED THEM ALL.

I stand ready to assist, spatula in hand.

You make this sound so welcoming and fun and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was always too afraid to go to any cons, even the small ones. There are are ton around here in fandoms I've been in for decades, but it seems daunting. Your write up makes it sound fun and welcoming.

It really was exactly that. I think it helped that the con was small, and therefore not overwhelming (which I understand can be the case with the big ones like SDCC), and that I was involved in something (like the panel) so there wasn't much chance of me being a wall-flower. And I'd been talking to people I knew where going to be there and so that helped too - it's always nice doing something a bit scary with company.

(Not that cons are inherently scary - but trying something new can be, sometimes.)

You did not just bounce. Your feet left the ground entirely. Those were jumps. Leaps. (You did also bounce. Boing boing boing boing boing.) Your son's gymnastics coaches would have been proud. Folks, I do not exaggerate.

I'm so glad you helped out sherkeys. What an awful thing to happen at the end of what must have been an exhausting, if thrilling, time for her.

I am sad I didn't get to fangirl Basingstoke. I get unexpectedly shy and it hits at odd moments.

Let's do it again next year!!!! I wonder when you can come to another con?! I know now not to bother with the small toaster. No toaster or else an oven large enough to do some good. More plates. Maybe we should set out platters and a serve-your-own station so people can see there's really enough for everyone. No, too crowded; hmm, maybe just set out a platter with a server so people can see but still have plates passed... Oh, my wheels are turning...

Aww, I loved reading this! Also, congratulations, you got me to dust off my LJ after more than THREE YEARS! I'm glad that the entire con expereince was so positive for you. I'm completely sold on it now, as well! I can't wait to go to another. And/or actually pull off a viewing of that movie that imathreepatchproblem mentioned!

I'm really excited about the readding221b group!

(BTW, this is Jen/InterestingGuesses)
