On publishing, revolutions, and cross-stitch (these things are not necessarily related)

So the very exciting news over here (which, in typical me fashion, I am trying not to be overly excited about) is that the editor for the anthology liked the story, so it's in.  I am told it'll be available before Christmas via Amazon, and I'll post updates (and a link, natch) once I have them ( Read more... )

Well, you know what to cross-stich your Sherlock friends for x-mas! They are brilliant :)

Already said how thrilled I am about the story being published but it bears repeating - and I cross fingers for a "tickets in hand" moment soon.

As for Alphaverse *salivates onto the keyboard* I wants it, precious, I wants it now! Especially with the revolution aspect :) If I'm a very good girl, may I britpick? *adds puss-in-boots eyes into the mix*

PS I adore your mini-bios, they make me giggle happily.

True! They're very small and light, they'd mail extremely well.

As for the Alphaverse...I'm trying to decide if I want to send out what I have now, or wait until I figure out the revolution. I don't feel like I need the ego boost I needed at this stage in writing Mise, but I'm kind of stuck on the revolutionary aspect. (I think some research will help in that regard, though.)

Yay for your story! Also, I love your cross-stitch figures and would most definitely read anything you write based on any of your short biogs :)

The brilliance of this post is even better than morning coffee.

I adore the intermittent versions of your bio, parenthetical and italicized at once, the way they are a refrain but vary according to the musings that precede them.

Needless to say, I cheer about the story.

The cross stitch figurines slay me with the cute and clever. I know I would prefer pins. I would want to wear one over my heart. (Lestraaaaaaade....)

(I think the bio about the favorite grocery store is brilliant. Do you want to point readers toward your fanfic? Do you want them to know anything about you, such as what other kinds of writing you like to read or produce? If you don't, it would serve nicely, I would think.)

I think most people at the con will want pins...but I admit I'm thinking longevity.

And good point about the things that bio can actually do, other than telling readers about me. I also think it would be nice if it tied into the story in some way - except I'm not sure how to do that with the story as it's written! Ideas?

Hmm. What's the theme of the anthology? For the story, I guess if I were reading this story in an anthology, I would wonder if you knew personally about adjusting from a wrong-life to claiming one's own right-life, and the role that partners and children can play in that. Or if you liked themes of befriending and even loving that which is frightening. But hmm, that might be too vague. I think really I would wonder if this author with the assured voice is an experienced writer, where they might have published before, or if they bring other life experiences to their fiction. The big question for me is if you would want to mention the fanfiction, because that would explain a lot about how smooth and confident your voice is.

Congrats on the story! I can't remember if I knew about it before and my frazzled brain deleted it or if this is really the first time, but congrats all the same!

Also, I like this one: Sharon lives in Virginia with her husband, son, and cat. Her husband is useful in any number of really scary ways. Also, he's tall and can reach the stuff on the high shelves.

Hee!

I mentioned it in passing, but it wasn't quite official-official then. No worries. :)

Thanks!
