I made a Boston Cream Pie this weekend for my neighbor’s birthday - it was her choice, but I was happy to oblige since it’s one of my favorites, and I haven’t had a chance/excuse to make one before. *sigh* I love love love Boston cream pie but no one else in the family does, really.

Why do they call it PIE when it's obviously a cake???

Oooo, I know this one. One theory is because back in the days before Williams Sonoma or Sur la Table, people baked their cakes in pie pans. Now, why other cakes were switched over to being called cakes and this one was not, I don't know - time warp, or Bostonians being stubborn about it, no idea. But that's one theory for why it's pie and not cake.
