Having finally just watched the Christmas episode of Downton Abbey, I mostly want to know one thing, which is not what's in the upcoming cut.

Well, no one can watch it right now. All we have is a trailer and it won't be aired until the week of the anniversary in April. You should be able to see it the same way you watch Downton Abbey.
