So, for the past several years it has suddenly become A Thing to strap GIANT MENORAHS to the tops of cars. With lights that light up and everything. It just kind of happened overnight one year. Up until that point: normal cars. The next day and for every December thereafter: GIANT MENORAHS. I have not seen any cars dressed as reindeer, though. Just the menorahs.

Wow. I hadn't seen any menorahs around here. Maybe the Jews in my area don't feel the need to display their Judaica.

(That said, menorahs that actually light up? How wrong is it that my first reaction was, "Cool!" I mean, it's still dorky, but lighting up???? I wonder if you can control the number of lights so that the right number are lit on the correct day?)

Pittsburgh has a few communities of superduper Orthodox Jews, so ostentatious displays of Judaica aren't unheard of (and also men who stand on street corners and harass secularly-dressed Jewish-looking people for not being Jewish enough). And yes, the number of lights that are lit correspond to the correct day. I'm always worried about the cars tipping over, though.
