Thanks! *grin*

I will admit I didn't much care for Martha when I began - my first reaction, upon realizing that I (a) had to have someone with the Doctor and Rose for this journey and (b) that someone had to be Martha, was to groan and bang my head against the keyboard in fury.

But really, she was totally the best person in so many ways for this story. No one else was going to connect to Elizabeth so immediately; no one else was going to be able to yell at the Doctor effectively; no one else was going to be able to push Julio in the right direction.

But the hesitation about Rose's condition didn't sound good...

I like Martha in this; she comes across as far more practical and level-headed than she was allowed to be in the show.

I take it that, since Martha and Julio were the ones to face Gloriana at the end of this chapter, the Doctor is busy trying to fix whatever the Demuti (and, through them, the Spanish) have done to Rose?

Thanks! I like Martha in this too - I think writing this story helped me to like Martha in general.

I take it that, since Martha and Julio were the ones to face Gloriana at the end of this chapter, the Doctor is busy trying to fix whatever the Demuti (and, through them, the Spanish) have done to Rose?

The Demuti, more so than the Spanish. The Spanish themselves weren't really responsible for what happened to Rose - apart from the tying-up bit, everything that happened to Rose was on a telepathic level.

As for the Doctor fixing their damage....

Julio at least seems to have copped on to the Demuti game quite quickly; for someone possessed still by the Demuti (or at least I think he still was, will have to go re-read the relevant chapter(s)), he did a pretty good job of helping Rose when the Storm hit, for example. Or maybe I am seeing stuff that is not there (I am good at that.)

As for the Doctor fixing their damage....

Note that I said trying to fix it; I didn’t say whether or not he’d succeed, did I? ;D

Yes ... I’d rather thought that would be the reaction to that statement. Am I safe to come out from behind the sofa, yet, by the way?

The Demuti lost control of Julio when they transfered he and Rose to the rest of the Armada, three weeks in the future. So basically, the bulk of the last two chapters, the Julio we see is the actual, un-possessed Julio.

So yeah, he helps out Rose when the Storm hits, because he's realized what the Demuti are doing, and he's horrified. It's then that he really sees what's been possessing them all this time, poor man.

Note that I said trying to fix it; I didn’t say whether or not he’d succeed, did I? ;D

You are absolutely right, you did. My mistake. However, I stand by my whistle.

I’d rather thought that would be the reaction to that statement.

That's because you're enormously clever.

Am I safe to come out from behind the sofa, yet, by the way?

*thinks* Yes, I believe it's safe now. Might be a little distressing, but it's not scary. And if you can call the next ending a cliffhanger, it's because it's a good one, and for that reason you'll want to know what happens next.

Fitting end(ish) for Julio, I think. Glad everything seems to be working out well. I'm eagerly awaiting finding out who this Janie is. :)

It is, actually, a good end for Julio. I was quite sorry to say goodbye to him, I'd grown very fond of him!

I'm eagerly awaiting finding out who this Janie is.

You and everyone else. :)

Thanks, m'dear!

No one's eloquent at 6.30am. I think it's one of those universal truths.

But the Ooooooh gets the point across quite nicely. :) Thank you!
