And I bet Martha’s thinking: of all the doctor’s offices in all the universe, he has to walk in to mine.

Poor Martha (for more than one reason, too). The Doctor really doesn’t have a clue, does he?

Enjoyed this, as always.

The Doctor never has a clue. If he did, he'd be unbearable.

Thanks for the review - you weren't refreshing the page every ten minutes, were you? *grin*

Smug and I-was-right-itis? And that’s different from how he usually is how, exactly? ;)

I never do that (I’ve been out all afternoon; this was pretty much at the top of my f-list when I got back online).

Oh, he knows his galaxy. But he doesn't have a clue about his companions. That's what makes him adorable.

"the Doctor, muttering delightedly to himself, went back under the grating to tinker with the TARDIS, happy in his general discontent in regards to how everything ran"

This is one of the loveliest descriptions of the Doctor on his TARDIS. I adore it.

I also loved Martha and Rose's heart-to-heart, acknowledging the complexities there.

I figure the Doctor would be terribly disappointed if the TARDIS actually ran well. He'd have nothing to fix, and wouldn't be able to hit anything with his mallet. :)

Poor old Martha. She just never stood a chance, did she? She went through so much heartache for him, and not only via Rose. She just got picked up in the wrong season, hehe.

I love that Rose feels compassion for her. She even says 'sorry'! That's very big of her. Yay Rose.

I found I liked Martha a lot more in S4 than I ever did in S3 - because I'm not so much of a Martha fan, either. Once she got over the Doctor, she was much better.

Thanks for the review!

Oh, Ten. Despite being so bloody smart, he really is incredibly stupid. And insensitive. I love that you remind us of that, and in a way that's exasperating instead of loathesome.

I'm...not a big Martha fan, but I love how you portrayed her here--you round the character out beautifully, and I only wish the writers had done half so good a job with the character last season.

As for Rose? Oh, I think Martha's last line rather neatly sums her up in this chapter ;)

Never been a big Martha fan myself - you should have seen me stomp around the house when I realized I had to use her here. But I'm really pleased with how she fits into the story.

I think the writers redeemed themselves in regards to Martha in S4 - maybe not completely, but she was far more palatable.

*grin* Thanks. :)

I reallyreallyreally enjoyed this chapter. It's always neat to dig into the characters, and see what makes them tick.

I wasn't a Martha fan myself; after Rose, no one else could/should be with the Doctor! But your portrayal of Martha makes her more understandable and rather sad.

And Sarah Jane is ... Sarah Jane! Always loved her, the more so after seeing what a git the Doctor was with her! Strong, strong woman.

Yep ... a great chapter!

*Hugs and TARDIS cookies?*
