I can only hate that musical, thanks to a horrendous term in a Broadway Show Choir where we sang/danced the title song, except my partner (who was terribly cute) ditched the performance so I got to "dance" alone while singing a song I hated, the worst of which was if I'd known he was ditching I would've too because I could've been at Jesus Christ Superstar instead.

Actually the song just annoyed me.

The musical I find most annoying is Ragtime, because my old draper Erika played it every single morning. She loved it. I hated it. Particularly the part where everyone starts chanting "Coalhouse....coalhouse...coalhouse...." I ended up hiding the CD in one of the fabric bins and it was only found after I'd left for Bishkek.

The most annoying musical, without question, is Carousel. Some of the music is quite good, but there is no good excuse for "This was a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal nice claaaaaaaaaaaaaaambaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake...." I have nightmares about singing that one.

So I take it you did not have a real good time at the clambake? *grin*

What I want to know is why musicals are all about such depressing subjects.

Rent: AIDS
Showboat: Racism
Carousel: Death
Oklahoma: Death
Cabaret: Nazis
Guys & Dolls: Gambling
Sunset Boulevard: Alcoholism & Prostitution
Best Little Whorehouse: Prostitution
Cats: the terrors of not spaying or neutering your cats
