Okay, I like having one massive list much better. Mostly because doing a daily list is just plain boring at this stage - packout to the States is so much different from packout leaving the States, you can't really compare the two ( Read more... )

This particular one? Well, you know how Eugene O'Neill wouldn't let one of his plays produced until after not only he, but his entire immediate family had died? Yeah, this story's in that exact alley.

There is much less running around town trying to buy up supplies, which really is the bulk of it. Also, I'm not trying to tie up loose ends in regards to residency or voting; I'm not selling a car; I'm not dealing with consummables; I'm not trying to figure out who I need to see before we go away; I'm not arranging for lodging or plane tickets. There are no immunizations to get, no security clearances to pass, no medical appointments to attend, and no last-minute-dinners at Silver Diner. As far as comparisons go, this is cake.

And even the actual packing itself wasn't too bad - just frenzied. At least it was over quickly.

And anyway, here, I don't have to worry about putting the furniture in storage. :)
