If you're intent on watching the mini-series, don't read this.

Yup. And he even lost his daughter, too. Hells, even that SAS bint thought she'd seen it all - and even she turned away in horror and disgust.

Bear in mind that, in some species, the parents will eat their own young rather than have them fall into the hands of predators.

And it was either this for the poor kid ... or be stuffed into some alien's bong.

This was a Sophie's Choice, where it wasn't one against the other: it was one against hundreds of millions.

No wonder he wanted to run away. Who'd want to stay on Earth haveing faced a week like that?

I had thought of the same when I saw Frodesher take the gun out from the box after the PM told him that his daughters were to be given away.

The writers were relentless in their writing, going straight for the throat countless times.

Obviously, if it weren't for the actors' tremendous performances, all of this would have been cheap B-grade drivel.

If there's one thing I almost agree with a critique I read, is that it seemed as though Jack gave up too easily, considering his demeanor during the earlier episodes in the series. Then again, heartbreak is always hard to deal with, and in those circumstances, it was just worse.

I do hope they get around to bringing Cap'n Jack back for another season of Torchwood, maybe with the help of a certain Doctor.
