First, I’d like to say I’m still working on my China entry. Right now it’s at 5 pages and I haven’t even got to Beijing or Hong Kong yet. Once it’s finished I’ll probably upload it in several different pieces.
i'll read it all and comment accordingly, but I just got back from hokkaido + tokyo and i need a shower.
I totally agree with you on Dark Knight. I always thought Bales "Batman voice" was a little too exagerated. Heath was absolutely phenomenal.. i was nothing short of blown away. I can't wait to watch the movie again and again just for his performance. Yes, it was long, and Two-face was a quickie, but damn if it wasn't the best movie I've seen in theaters since There Will Be Blood. Iron Man was fantastic, but Dark Knight was just so lovingly twisted. "Watch, as I make this pencil dissapear". Srsly. amazing
And yeah, the V For Vendetta comic is quite a bit different from the movie. It's a good read though. Moore is quite the raconteur. I'm not super hip on the art, but it has it's moments. I really want to read Watchmen though. I've been waiting for the movie for a while and I had a comicgasm when I saw the trailer. SQWEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Watchmen is well worth the read. The movie looks really faithful based on the preview, and the director seems to have the right mindset. I read an interview with the director and it sounds like he'll be leaving in the controversial stuff. Assuming it's as faithful as it looks, I'm not sure how the film is going to do. This isn't a conventional superhero story. People are going to go in expecting Spiderman or Batman and are going to get something very, very different. Regardless, I think it'll be fantastic, I'm just not sure the general public is going to agree with me. Of course, I could care less, since this will be a stand alone film.
I've already picked up Iron Fist, not sure when I'll start on it though. I just don't think I can get into Thor. I've heard really good things about it online, but I used to know a bunch of trailer trash who believed that stuff was real. They were overall decent people (as opposed to wiccans) but were still really pathetic. I have a damned hard time not associating norse or celtic mythology with those groups anymore. I'll probably read some Thor when the movie starts getting closer though
