Spring will come again

Dec 05, 2008 14:45

Winds may blow
And snows may snow
And clouds may come and hide the moon
Still we know that someday soon
Spring will come again
Summer has to follow
Birds will come again
Nesting in the hollow
Once again we knew, oh, we knew
That after winter comes spring

I'm (not-so) secretly jealous that you get to sing this. I kind of hated it at first, but it's grown on me.

You sound so damned pretty.

Aww, thanks! It's grown on me too - I think the poetry is beautiful.
And you know what, you were totally right all along (as always); Chichester Psalms is freaking awesome. It might just end up as one of my favorite choral pieces.

My objection at first was entirely attributable to my love for the Chichester Psalms. The "Spring Will Come Again" version felt like such a bastardization... but of course it came first.

Anyway, I'm glad (but maybe not surprised) you've grown to like the Psalms so much. After all, I've been in love with this piece since 11th grade for a reason. :) It's such an amazing blend of blinding dissonance and haunting melodies, and there are so many contrasts between and within movements, and... oh gosh, I need to stop.
