because "people with mental disabilities" is discriminating
You have to ramp it down to "people with disabilities". Period. What? I don't know about the other several billion people on earth, but I think specifics are great, since "disabilities" could range from blindness to autism to missing an arm.
A-also I'm glad that like everyone who replied to this post seems to agree with us. \o/ Way to go!

I try to avoid using it, too, but when it gets to the whole "YOU CANNOT CLASSIFY THEM AT ALL ITS WRONGGGG" then I don't even know what to do. Obviously situations involving disabilities would need to be handled different.
"I need to book a place for a party of 10 people" is different if they're ten disabled people. Maybe they have wheelchairs and need wheelchair access. Maybe they're blind and it shouldn't be a place with multiple levels. Y'know? Just... just... what.

Nah, I just read that comment thread and I've made a point never to comment on anything posted on ontd_political. Just for my own sanity. So I ranted about it here.
And life is pretty good! My new class lineup seems like it's going to be manageable, at least. And I have a whole bunch of clubs I want to attend, and I'm 99% sure I'm gonna get re-hired at my job now that I'm back. :D
