“Buchou.” Tezuka looks at him, and understands, and they play. It is after practice one day, and no one is watching except for Ryoma’s thermos flask: there are three letters stuck to the bottom that he can’t reach - an R, an L and a T - and Ryoma wonders if it’s a good omen or not.
And now for the other one: This time when Tezuka turns the corner Ryoma quickly unscrews the top of his thermos flask and peers inside: T, L and R are visible in the light of the streetlamp, and Ryoma stretches his fingers as far as they can go, swiping the spoon blindly at the letters, until finally they reach, and he scoops them up and eats them, the chewy cold letters making him .yearn for more.
*sings* Tezuka loves Ryoma! Tezuka loves Ryoma.
And now for something serious...
I really enjoyed this. Putting in the use of alphabet soup was really creative and I loved your Ryoma, and the way they both surpassed the other just so they could keep on improving. And your little Horio tidbits were hilarious, and so him that it was almost painful to read.
I love how so much seemed to happen but so much more was only hinted at, lurking underneath the surface.
And you need to make Tezuka come over to the Echizen household and have Rinko force him to eat alphabet soup! *dies at the thought*
THANK YOU FOR THE REVIEW. i love it when people get stuff like that, like the RLT and TLR :D:D IT WARMS MY HEART, to know that my little not-so-subtle hinty things do not go unnoticed :D
horio = so much comedy one just has to slip him in SOMEWHERE.
hur hur hur SINCE THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP i shall attempt to write something. *cackles evilly*
Campbell's! Another way corporate America has corrupted the innocent youth of today!

Ahh... why did I not see this on flist? Why? Why? *mourns*
It's great, and I should probably frame it somewhere, only, you know, parentals.
Tezuka's favourite author is Sun Zi? Where does everyone get that? Does he read The Art of War in canon, and I've just missed that episode? Anyway, love all around for this fic.
i believe his favourite author is ed mcbain, due to the fact that according to the fanbook, he carries "the big bad city" by ed mcbain (IT IS A QUEER BOOK. some strange kind of... dry humour i dunno) around with him everywhere. (HE READ IT IN GERMANY, I THINK. SOMEWHERE. IN THE ANIME.) the art of war thing came from pillarchallenge - resolutions. XP
wahahahah corruption by canned soup.
frame it. :D:D yes parentals. they must never find out. neverrrrrrrr.
I know, I saw that when he was in Germany he had the ultimate brick of Ed McBain... whatever. I just find it weird that people automatically assume his favourite book would be... The Art of War. It's something Fuji or Mizuki would enjoy. Or Voldemort, but, wrong fandom.
but i've always thought tezuka would enjoy it. the militariness of it all, planning, controlling your troops whatever. (i read a version of it done manga-style so my understanding of it may be somewhat limited)
for some reason the image of fuji and mizuki reading a book on knitting together somehow popped into my head, and won't go away.

It is these six letters that he arranges neatly on a plate and eats last, one by one
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD DO IF FACED WITH THE SAME SITUATION. But I'm not a cute 12-yr-old boy as much as a 23-yr-old girl, so... scrap that.
LOVED the fic. no, you're not getting this. LOVED IT.
