Yuletide reveal, etc.

Happy New Year, everyone! :-) I spent New Year's Eve at home with a glass of sparkling grape juice. Had an invitation to spend it marathoning movies with some friends, but after all the hustle and bustle of Christmas and coming straight back to work afterwards, I decided I just needed some time away from people. So, I'm still having a quiet, solo ( Read more... )

:-D

I probably ought to go out and get my hands on some more of his roles, but it's hard to judge which ones.

My friends all tell me the remake of The Prisoner, for example, was horrible but they're all fans of the original. And, well, I found the original mystifying but not really all that interesting, so I might feel differently. Passion of the Christ, on the other hand, depending on who I talk to, I get either rave reviews or that it's "religious torture porn." The Thin Red Line is pretty universally praised but, from what I've heard about it, isn't really my type of movie, and I don't think *anyone* bothered to watch "Angel Eyes." And I have no idea what else he's even DONE. *g*

(I've seen him in PoI, Frequency, and The Count of Monte Cristo, although the latter not for a while, due to reading the book after I saw the movie and becoming retroactively angry about some of the changes made. *g*)

Would definitely be interested to hear a newcomer's perspective! Let me know if you think it's worth checking out. :-)

(Rewatched The Count of Monte Cristo, BTW. Still not thrilled with some of the changes from the book, but DANG that man looks good 19th century frippery. And a goatee. Especially the goatee.)

Ah, yours was the story I wanted to go back to and comment on before reveals. (I don't own slash goggles, so occasionally I read the Reese/Finch fics labeled pre-slash and it's pretty much gen to me.)

I have a question! Does Caviezel whisper-talk in Frequency? I've been wondering if that's a choice for his role as Reese or if it's just Caviezel. (I have his version of The Count of Monte Cristo in my Netflix queue, but, well, its number hasn't come up yet. heh.)

I think it must be a character choice (maybe related to Reese's backstory like Finch's limp and neck problem are to his?), because no, he speaks pretty clearly in Frequency (and with a much more pronounced NY accent). Maybe in a few scenes? I wasn't really paying attention to THAT. ;-) Also he demonstrates a more obviously broad emotional range in that movie (you might not think so in the first ten or fifteen minutes, but wait until the action really gets started), so I think the monotone thing is probably a deliberate character choice too. (I saw CoMC a long time ago but haven't rewatched it since I actually read the novel because I fell madly in love with a character who wasn't in the movie ( ... )

we are the best Yuletide fandom! :DD

(I will admit to skipping the Reese/Finch fics, as I have no shipping desire there at all, but I will now go back and read yours, reassured)

(Hee! That's okay, I didn't read any of the ones I didn't write either. ;-) But thanks for going back!)
